About

Gramaphone and journalThe SongStream Project is a mobile recording project that gathers and shares the stories of everyday people by exploring the interwoven path of music and memory, story and song. We work with individuals and groups in order to create a space in which the music and stories of our lives can be explored and shared.

Music weaves its way through every twist and turn of our journeys through life. It provides the soundtrack for both our darkest and most shining days. It resonates, sustains and inspires. Music inspires stories and stories inspire music. The team at SongStream captures and shares the music and stories through the SongStream website and podcast. While the way music is created and shared is unique to each setting, community and individual story, ultimately, music is the vehicle – the vehicle for opening conversation, reminding us of our memories, and connecting us to one another.

From the beginning, the vision of The SongStream Project has been that it uses a vintage Airstream trailer as the recording space. We are steadily working towards that dream.

Mission Statement
The mission of The SongStream Project is to gather and share stories of everyday people by exploring the interwoven path of music and memory in our lives. Through deliberately creating this space The SongStream Project aims to contribute to a culture of peace by exploring seemingly familiar themes through new lenses in order to encourage empathetic connections across communities, act as a catalyst for creative conversations that challenge stereotypes, help weave webs of relationships, strengthen human community and encourage new music and stories to emerge.
